Rhonda Robbins – Principal, Kemp Elementary School
It is with great excitement and honor that I introduce myself as the new principal of Kemp Elementary School! In just a few days, I have already begun to experience the warmth and dedication of the Kemp community, and I am eager to contribute to the positive school culture by working collaboratively with each and every one of you.
I bring over forty years of educational experience to Kemp, spanning from elementary education to college instruction and professional theater companies. For the past seven years, I have focused on working with various schools to improve both school culture and academic achievement. While I have found immense fulfillment in this work, I am thrilled to now call Kemp my home and to invest in its bright future.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving in diverse roles, including Language Arts and Drama teacher, clinical teacher for student teachers, RtI coordinator, attendance specialist, dean of students, and assistant principal. My work has primarily been in Title One schools, where I have been successful in helping students achieve significant academic growth. My students have earned accolades in writing and drama, which reflects my deep passion for their success and my commitment to nurturing their talents.
Before transitioning into education, I had a vibrant career as a professional actress in Los Angeles. I worked with esteemed theater companies such as Nosotros, the Latino Workshop of Ralph Waite’s Los Angeles Actors Theatre, Los Angeles Public Theatre, Inner City Culture Center, Twelfth Night Repertory Company, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and the Shakespeare Society of America. My experience as an actress, choreographer, director, and teacher in these settings has enriched my approach to education, allowing me to bring creativity and a unique perspective to the classroom.
I reside in Denver and am the proud parent of two adult children, as well as four wonderful grandchildren, who never fail to bring joy to my life. I enjoy theater, walks, movies, reading, and traveling, and I’m always ready to share stories and pictures of my family.
As I step into this role, I am eager to get to know each of you. I believe in maintaining an open-door policy and encourage you to stop by, introduce yourself, and share any concerns or ideas you may have. Together, I am confident that we will make this an extraordinary school year at Kemp Elementary.
